1. Walter STEWART, son of Alan FITZWALTER ( -1204) and Alesta of Mar ( - ), was born before 1198. He was a 3rd Lord High Steward of Scotland and Justiciary of Scotland. He had the title '3rd Lord High Steward of Scotland'. He married Beatrix.

 

The couple also had several daughters. Instead of taking the name "Walter FitzAlan" (son of Alan), Walter adopted the name of his hereditary office and became known as Walter Stewart. Thus, he is the first Stewart from whom all the names are descended. Walter was appointed Justiciar of Scotia in 1232.
