1. John FitzAlan, 7th Earl of Arundel, son of John FitzAlan, Lord Oswestry, Clun, and Arundel (1223-1267) and Maude le Botiller ( - ), was born on 14 September 1246. He married Isabella de Mortimer in 1260. He died on 18 March 1272.

 

Isabella de Mortimer and John FitzAlan, 7th Earl of Arundel had the following children:

 

Richard FitzAlan, 8th Earl of Arundel (1266-1301). Richard was born on [Julian] 3 February 1266. He died on [Julian] 9 March 1301.

Eleanor FITZALAN ( -1328). Eleanor married Henry, 1st Lord Percy of Alnwick circa 1299 in Alnwick. She died in July 1328. She was buried in Beverley, Yorkshire.

2. John FitzAlan, Lord Oswestry, Clun, and Arundel, son of John Fitzalan, Lord of Oswestry and Isabel d'Aubigny, was born in 1223. He died in 1267. He married Maude le Botiller.

 

He is sometimes counted as 6th Earl of Arundel, although he was never called earl during his lifetime.

He was the son of John Fitzalan, Lord of Oswestry, from whom he inherited a great estate in Shropshire, and Isabel d'Aubigny, daughter of William d'Aubigny, 4th Earl of Arundel. After the death without direct heirs of his mother's brother Hugh d'Aubigny, 5th Earl of Arundel, he inherited a quarter of the earl's estate, including Arundel.

Arundel vacillated in the conflicts between Henry III and the barons. He fought on the king's side at the Battle of Lewes, where he was taken prisoner. On 26 May 1244, he obtained possession of his paternal estates in Shropshire.

 

3. Maude le Botiller was the daughter of Theobald le Botiller and Rhese de VERDON. She and John FitzAlan, Lord Oswestry, Clun, and Arundel had the following children:

4. John Fitzalan, Lord of Oswestry was born in 1200. He died in 1240. He married Isabel d'Aubigny.

6. Theobald le Botiller (also known as Theobald BUTLER), son of Theobald Walter, 1st Baron Butler and Maude le Vavasour, was born in January 1200 in Norfolk, East Anglia. He had the title '2nd Baron Butler'. He died on 19 July 1230 in Poitou, France. He was buried in Abbey of Arklow, Wicklow, Ireland. He married Rhese de VERDON.

 

Theobald le Botiller, also known as Theobald Butler, 2nd Baron Butler (January, 1200 – July 19, 1230) was the son of Theobald Walter, 1st Baron Butler and Maud le Vavasour. He was born in Norfolk, East Anglia, England. He had livery of his lands on 2 July 1221.

After the death of his first wife Joan de Mareis, Theobald remained a widower. Henry III of England requested the marriage of Theobald to Rohese de Verdon, daughter of Nicholas de Verdon of Alton, Staffordshire and Clemence. The agreement to marry occurred on 4 September 1225. The marriage is presumed to have shortly followed. This was the second marriage for both Theobald and Rohese.

Theobald was summoned cum equis et armis (Latin: "with horse and arms") to attend the King into Brittany, as "Theobaldus Pincerna" on 26 October 1229. He died on 19 July 1230 in Poitou, France, at the age of 30. Theobald, 2nd Baron Butler, was buried in the Abbey of Arklow, County Wicklow, Leinster, Ireland.

His daughter, Maude le Botiller, was married to John FitzAlan, 6th Earl of Arundel and was mother of John FitzAlan, 7th Earl of Arundel.
