Sir Gervase CLIFTON ( -1324)

1. Sir Gervase de CLIFTON, son of Sir Gervase CLIFTON of Wilford ( -1268), died in 1324. He married Amflicia SAMPSON.

 

This Gervase purchased the Manor of Clifton from Sir Gerard de Rhodes before 1272. He was Sheriff of Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire 1279-1286, and Yorkshire 1286-1292. He died in 1324.

 

Amflicia SAMPSON was the daughter of Sir William SAMPSON of Epperston ( - ). She and Gervase de CLIFTON had the following children:

Second Generation

2. Sir Gervase de CLIFTON of Glapton, son of Sir Gervase de CLIFTON and Amflicia SAMPSON, died in 1316. He married Alicia de RABACY.

 

This Gervase died before his father.

 

Alicia de RABACY was the daughter of Robert de RABACY ( - ). She and Gervase de CLIFTON had the following children:

Third Generation

3. Sir Robert de CLIFTON, son of Sir Gervase de CLIFTON of Glapton and Alicia de RABACY, died in 1327. He married Emma de MOTON.

 

He succeeded his grandfather in 1324.

 

Emma de MOTON was the daughter of Sir William de MOTON ( - ). She and Robert de CLIFTON had the following children:

 

4	Gervase de CLIFTON ( - ). Gervase was a Sheriff of Nottinghamshire (1344).
