3. Earl Archibald DOUGLAS, son of Earl Archibald DOUGLAS and Joan MORAY, was born circa 1370. He had the title '4th Earl Douglas'. He died on [Julian] 17 August 1424. He married Margaret STEWART.

 

Archibald Douglas, 4th Earl of Douglas also went by the nick-name of Archibald 'Tyneman'. He held the office of Lord Warden of the Marches in 1400.2 He succeeded to the title of 4th Earl of Douglas [S., 1358] circa 24 December 1400.2 He fought in the invasion of England by the Scots in 1401, which he commanded.2 He fought in the Battle of Homildon Hill on 14 September 1402, where he was wounded in 5 places, lost an eye, and was taken prisoner by Henry Hotspur, whom he afterwards joined in a rebellion against King Henry IV.2 He gained the title of Lord of Annandale in 1409.5 He was created 1st Duc de Touraine [France] on 19 April 1424.5 He fought in the Battle of Verneuil on 17 August 1424, fighting against the Duke of Bedford.5.

 

Lady Margaret STEWART Lady of Galloway, daughter of King Robert III (John) Stewart KING OF SCOTLAND (1337-1406) and Annabel DRUMMOND (c. 1350-c. 1401), was born between 1367 and 1401. She had the title 'Lady of Galloway'. She died between 1450 and 1456. She and Archibald DOUGLAS had the following children:
